Borderway Agri-Expo, Carlisle, proved another successful primestock event for Texel genetics, with a clutch of championship tickets for the breed.
Leading the way for the breed and taking the reserve overall championship were a pair of 42.5kg Dutch Texel crosses from John Hall and family, Inglewood Edge, Carlisle.
This pair were sired by a Weekfield tup bred by Robin Slade, Herefordshire.
Texel genetics were also to the fore in the championship for crossbred lambs bred from a Hill ewe. The leaders here were a pair of Texel x Cheviot lambs from the Cavers family, Langholm. These were by a homebred tup and weighed 48kg apiece.
