Commercial customers drive Ballymena Texel trade
A robust commercial demand for well fleshed, well grown Texel rams was the driving force behind the trade at the Northern Irish National Texel Sale, Ballymena, on Tuesday 13 August.
British Texel Sheep Society chief executive John Yates said the trade was pleasing and proved the demand for quality Texel sires was as strong as ever among commercial sheep producers. "Despite the challenging conditions earlier in the year Northern Irish sheep farmers have once again shown their confidence in the Texel breed by investing in quality sires capable of breeding prime lambs which earn them a significant premium price."
